"Mōri Motonari: The Three Arrows of Oath" is a simulation RPG developed by Koei (now Koei Tecmo Games) and released on May 23, 1997. It is the third installment in the "Eiketsuden Series." The game was launched in conjunction with the airing of the NHK Taiga drama Mōri Motonari, depicting the growth of the Mōri clan, rulers of the Chūgoku region, with some fictional elements included.
In this game, each chapter includes one battle, and the storyline progresses by winning each battle. Unlike Oda Nobunaga Den, which was later released in the same series and includes scenario branches even in case of defeat, this title does not feature such branches—defeat results in a game over.
A key feature of the game is the ability to explore castle towns before battles. Through conversations in these areas, the story develops further. Players can also purchase weapons in markets and workshops, level up commanders in training grounds, and gather information in taverns, among other activities.
