与前作《世嘉拉力锦标赛》一样，游戏的目标是成功沿着赛道行驶并到达检查点，从而获得更多时间来奖励玩家达到目标。 Sega Rally 2 增加了新的车辆、新的赛道环境设置（包括雪地赛道和设置在岛屿上的赛道），以及每种环境类型中的多个赛道。 还包括原始游戏沙漠赛道的更新版本。
