《上帝也疯狂3：开天辟地》（Populous: The Beginning）是Populous系列的第三代。
上帝也疯狂与前两代的Populous有所不同，在这一代中玩家扮演的是祭司（原始部落的女首领），女祭司要征服24个星球，每一关最多有三个部落为玩家的敌人（红色：达金尼Dakini；绿色：马特克Matak；黄色：克麦拉Chumara；玩家的颜色是蓝色）。在最后关中祭司成为了神，可以任意消灭对她不忠的人。
在游戏中祭司是最重要的主力，但也是最脆弱的（不过由于游戏设定上，祭司生命值回复速度很快，所以除了武士外，其他信徒单对单都无法战胜祭司）。祭司在游戏中靠施法术来发挥其重要作用，在前24关中施展任何法术都是有范围的，在25关中由于祭司成为了神，则可以在星球的任何地方施展法术。此游戏有三个俯视视角和360度的旋转视角，并可使玩家旋转地球仪一样来查看整个星球的战况。可在游戏画面左侧的面板看到祭司的状态，可建造的建筑物，可施展的法术和每一个信徒的状态。
