Revival Xanadu is Nihon Falcom’s 10-year anniversary remake of the 1985 classic Xanadu – Dragon Slayer II, published for the NEC PC-9801/9821 on 28 April 1995. The boxed first-print contained three 3.5-inch HD floppies (or an alternative 5-inch set) plus a bonus “Photo-CD” packed with Kow Yokoyama’s monster concept art and vintage ads. All portraits, shops and enemy sprites were redrawn in crisp 400-line analogue-RGB 16-colour artwork, while Falcom Sound Team jdk produced an entirely new 20-track stereo FM/MIDI score that plays on real hardware. Core side-view dungeon floors keep the original tiles for nostalgia, but menus, status panes and item icons were modernised, and the remake adds an optional auto-equip and smoother bump-collision. An “Easy Version” (with in-game map) was later bundled with Revival Xanadu II Remix and is now on EGG Console.
