Briganty: The Roots of Darkness is a side-scrolling action-RPG released for the NEC PC-9801 on 27 October 1995 by GIGA (Technical Group Laboratory). Blending platforming, beat-’em-up combat, light RPG progression and explicit adult scenes, the game lets players swap freely between fire-flinging black-mage-cum-martial-artist Gady and sword-wielding Sephina, with sprite companion Leena tagging along for commentary. Stages are chosen from an overworld map, towns serve for healing and saves, and levelling up unlocks command-input special moves.
